Ryan's Journey…
Ryan has been flying high ever since he can remember. Whether it be hang gliding at age 5 for the first time, attaining his private pilot’s license at 17, or traveling the world as a professional climber, Ryan has always felt most alive in the sky. Adventure has been his life’s compass guiding him both personally and professionally. He has guided countless groups across the Sierra and Yosemite, both in winter and summer, helped people scale granite rock as a rock-climbing guide, and has taken people down some of the most challenging rivers in the world. People have entrusted Ryan with helping them navigate their journeys for over 25 years.
As much as Ryan is passionate about challenging people in the outdoors, he is just as passionate about challenging leaders to bring that same sense of adventure to their leadership roles. He creates the space for people to do more than they’ve dared to imagine. He challenges them to think differently, lead differently and see themselves differently all while reminding them of what is possible once they get out of their own way.
Ryan’s journey of being a Wilderness Guide brought him to his most recent guiding adventure… that of a Leadership Coach. Ryan is passionate about taking the same principles that have allowed him to be a sought-after guide in the outdoors to being a sought-after guide in the world of Leadership Coaching. And what bigger adventure than guiding people to find their life’s purpose, reach their highest potential as a leader, and align it all with their values, voice, and vision. Life’s biggest adventure is being who you are meant to be. And no one knows and understands this more than Ryan.
Ryan is also the Director of the Fresno State E.D.G.E. Challenge Course and has been a part of that program since 2000, where he has designed and delivered experiential leadership programs for hundreds of teams, groups, and organizations. Here he gets to combine his love of physical challenge with his love of helping people reach their full potential by helping them conquer and work through their fears. He is masterful at bringing content to life through creating experiences that pull people out of their comfort zones by engaging their mind, body and soul.
Ryan has over 20 years of consulting experience working with leaders from around the world. Before starting his leadership development career, he worked for 7 years climbing the corporate ladder at a large national bank where he honed his leadership skills and became known for his innovative leadership and his ability to move people and processes from ordinary to extraordinary.
His coaching style is calm yet energized, deliberate yet relaxed, focused yet connected and always empowering, positive and insightful. He believes coaching should be a partnership with others to tackle challenges or goals while amplifying the best within that person. To give leaders the opportunity to have a soundboard without conflicts of interest or judgement all while holding that person accountable.
When Ryan isn’t transforming the lives of leaders, you can find him hang-gliding, skiing, rafting, biking, and challenging himself thru the many outdoor endurance activities that he loves. He lives in Clovis, California with his wife, son, and daughter who also join in on many adventures.
